Val Di Fiemme – the world capital of winter sports
The ski resort of Val Di Fiemme, located in the Italian region of Trentino, is well-known among athletes for various types of winter sports – professionals and amateurs, as well as their fans. They have chosen this wide valley, surrounded by wooded mountain peaks, for a long time – some for training and finding out which of them is the strongest at the given time, others – to look at all this and support their beloved team.
Sports have always been held here quite regularly, but recently, their number has increased significantly. Organizers of international and prestigious competitions are increasingly choosing this hospitable resort. So in the past winter season, in addition to the World Cup, Val Di Fiemme hosted the World Ski Championships. And in this, the World Winter Universiade and the World Championship in skiing among juniors, which have become perhaps the most important sports events, were added to the annual sporting events.
Val Di Fiemme is ideal for becoming one of the world’s winter sports capitals. The Dolomites Valley has a suitable climate and terrain for running cross-country skiing trails in the valley and skiing and snowboarding trails on the slopes. In addition, there are ski jumps for “flying skiers” and an indoor palace for sports on the ice.

World Winter Universiade 2013 in Trentino

Universiade – international competitions, an analogue of the Olympic Games, in which youth and students take part, is held every two years. Initially, it was supposed to be held in Slovenia, but the organizers decided to move it to Italy – to Trentino.
Competitions in cross-country skiing, ski jumping, biathlon, biathlon, hockey will be held in Val Di Fiemme.

One of the most prestigious races among professional athletes. Held annually and consists of 4 stages in Germany and Italy. The last and most spectacular of them is traditionally held in Val Di Fiemme. First, mass start competitions are held – for women at a distance of 10 km., For men at a distance of 20 km. On the final day, athletes have to overcome 9 km. the final climb run – from the Lago di Tesero ski stadium to the intermediate station of the Alpe Cermis lift, where part of the route (3.5 km.) passes up the mountain slope – elevation drop of 420 m, average slope of 12% (max. 28%) .
Trofeo Topolino – children’s competitions, cross-country skiing

To become a champion, you need to train from childhood. Nothing motivates you to play sports like competition. In Italy, they understand this very well and regularly arrange a real ski race for young athletes. In addition to the age of the participants, everything else will be “grown-up”, for its conduct this time the tracks and the stadium were determined, where in 1991, 203 and 2013 the World Championships FIS (International Ski Federation) took place.
