Fashionable restaurant. In Monfort, high
In most restaurants around the world, food is starring, wine is selected for it. In Italy, with its ubiquitous cult, wines are often the opposite.
As its name implies, the tiny village of Monforte d’Alba is located near the city of Alba, in the heart of Piedmont. He enters the gastronomic routes through these hospitable places, because it is located on the southern edge of the Barolo wine-growing zone.
Lovely girls, if by this moment you are still stilettos, it’s better to take off your shoes right away. Because it will take quite a long time to go up to the treasured restaurant, and not just along the steep slope, but along the old cobblestones, and it is laid far less glamorous than on our Red Square. But there is something to suffer for.
Restaurant Moda on a high city hill boasts a private terrace with an operating fountain, and excellent views of the surrounding hills from this terrace. But do not waste your time in vain on all these external beauties, and immediately start exploring the internal sights of the institution on several floors.
There are two of them. Stylish interior with transparent floors and designer furniture. And the original bar, as it were, where visitors serve themselves. This is a large wine dispenser, four blocks of eight bottles each. Behind the glass are white and red wines, mainly from the surrounding vineyards, and they are wonderful there. It remains to choose the appropriate one, bring the glass to the tube and press the button. The buttons are actually three for each position – depending on the desired portion. Quite a bit, a clean try, costs 1-2 euros, a little more – 2-3, half a glass depending on the wine will cost 4-6 euros. Of course, if you like something, you can repeat it.
Payment is also simple: just get a special card from the waiter and insert it into the slot at the top of the corresponding display case. Everything that you have time to try will be included in the bill. The card has a limit of 100 euros, but it is unlikely that you will be able to exhaust it, unless with a large company.
The structure of the restaurant’s wine list at first glance does not look very modest. First, on a few pages, there is a listing of regional products under the heading Vini di Monforte d’Alba, understandable without any translation. Then briefly Il resto del mondo, the rest of the world. Toward the end of the evening, your opinion about the immodest structure of this card is likely to change.
