Freestyle Dolomites: Come, they will teach you!

The news that this winter in the Dolomiti Superski region will be built more than 20 snow parks for most, probably, will not be decisive. Even though many of us even guess that ski jumps made of snow are designed to jump from them and know what a freestyle is, but who would have the idea to do something like that without special skills!

However, you probably also watched some spectacular video where fashionably dressed guys take off on their snowboards or skis over the snow-covered slopes, while performing unimaginable and absolutely dizzying stunts. It is possible that some even envied their madness and / or skill, and no, no, a crazy thought flashed: “Eh, I would ..!” Well, dreams come true!

“DropIn” – the so-called special freestyle project, which is carried out in all resorts Dolomiti Superski. Its name can be translated as “Join in!”, But in the jargon of freestylers, this expression also has a different meaning. At that moment, when the athlete is preparing to pick up speed and enter the park, where jumps, railings and other devices for jumping are installed, he must raise his hand up and shout “Drop in!”. Thus, he attracts attention and warns other freestylers from dangerous maneuvers and collisions.

The goal of the project, which was invented and implemented in cooperation with 23 ski schools throughout the region, is not only to acquaint everyone with the basics of freestyle, but also to improve the technique of novice athletes, to teach them safety rules. It is primarily intended for young children aged 12-18 years, for whom it is especially important to test their strength, who dream to try themselves in this spectacular and a little crazy sport. Under the guidance of experienced freestyle instructors, they will be able to achieve results faster and, most importantly, with minimal risk. No age restrictions, meanwhile, exist and everyone “forever young” can become a participant in the project. No one will mock and point a finger, but only envy such cheerfulness and vigor!

The start of the project is scheduled for mid-January 2013. Classes are held twice a week – on Thursdays and Saturdays, from 10:00 to 16:00 in all 21 snow parks in the Dolomiti Superski region, which are great for freestyle. In groups – a maximum of 10 people per trainer, which makes the learning process optimal. The cost of one-day classes per participant, excluding the cost of the ski pass, is € 60 and € 80, together with equipment rental. More information about the DropIn program, as well as a list of all ski schools where you can enroll in this course, can be found in special brochures that are distributed at resorts or HERE.
